Foolishness and Mayhem Book Club

Welcome to “Foolishness and Mayhem Book Club”.

This Book Club has been started because my friend, Shelly, is going through a difficult time in her life right now.

Having been raising children since the age of 16 she is at a time in her life that the rest of us have seen our children graduate from high school and college and go on to lead productive lives.

Shelly and Brian have fostered children all the years and adopted most of them. They have their own (biological) children that have grown and gone.

Shelly and Brian are raising their final (for now) adopted children who, although purely delightful, have both physical and emotional issues being dealt with. Shelly also cares for her two small grandchildren while the parents work.

Shelly recently lost her beloved Mother and is hard pressed to find time to grieve for this loss. Shelly’s world has become consumed with child rearing and she has totally lost herself in the process.

This Book Club is my attempt to allow Shelly, and anyone else that needs it, a conduit to the outside world and have a sense of community. A place to feel a part of something greater than the children’s school work, laundry, and permission slips. A place for “Grown Up” chatter. Bouncing off ideas and concepts on an adult level. A place to regain her, and possibly your, footing.

If you want to be a part of the Foolishness and Mayhem Book Club which is accessed through a Facebook GROUP by the same name – Foolishness and Mayhem Book Club – take the following steps.

If you already have a Facebook account find this GROUP and request to join.

If you do not have a Facebook account and are afraid of the whole “Friend” thing I would like to allay one of those fears. You won’t be pestered with “Friend Requests” from people you don’t know nor care to know.

Sign up and join the GROUP. You will not be required to give any personal information to be in this Group. There are no fees involved. Just your time and input on the book we are reading and you can even make suggestions for future books to be read.

You won’t need to clean your house, bake cookies, whip up finger sandwiches, or even get all dressed up to take part in this Book Club. It is all done online in the convenience of your home.

The book titles are announced in the Facebook Group. You can get the book from your local library, booksellers, online, or even get the ebook to read on your electronic device – phone, laptop, Kindle, Nook, or iPad.

We all look forward to having you join us.

Leslie

Well now that was too easy! I don’t have a cell phone like yours — it looked difficult. It wasn’t! 🙂

I’ll access it from my laptop, because typing is much easier on a keyboard. Libraries can request books from other libraries if it’s not found in your local library. It may take a week or two, but most libraries are willing to do this. I look forward to starting with you guys!

Book suggestion – There are 5 books in the series written by Denise Domning, the first one is called Summer’s Storm. The author is American and written about the mediaeval period in English history, the books are all fiction and are a type of love story without being slushy. In fact they are quite lusty in places but a good read and not heavy going. The second bok in the series is Winter’s Heat. If you have a Kindle or a Kindle app on your iPhone, tablet, iPad, computer you can download these from Amazon as well as get them in a book store and library. Happy reading 🙂

    Love and hugs
