Statesville, NC to Knoxville, TN

In Statesville, North Carolina there is a store we stop at every chance we get. It is a discount store with all kinds of stuff at reasonable prices.

Some things you have to be choosey about. Off – off brand stuff that is questionable. Mostly they have name brand stuff that would not sell well in stores.

There are 3 of these stores. Burlington, Selma, and Statesville, North Carolina.

Another North Carolina specialty is a soda or pop called Cheerwine. It is a cherry flavored soft drink the locals highly recommend. Taste is not cola or Dr. Pepper. It has a distinct taste of its own with a cherry taste.

A little over a year ago part of the mountain came crashing down on I-40 near the Tennessee border. I-40 is finally back open to traffic. You can see where the rock face slid off. Pretty scary stuff. Glad I wasn’t any where around when that happened.

Wild flowers grow in the medians of the highway. Workers were out mowing the grass today.

We delivered our trucks in Knoxville, Tennessee and we are going about 800 miles home in our pickup for work out of Oklahoma City. I think we will be going to Green Bay, Wisconsin come Sunday.

There will be more tomorrow. Been a hot day and I sweated buckets. Need lots of water to replenish what I’ve lost.
Find a hotel, have a good scrubbing in the shower and go to bed early tonight.
