On a 34 mile stretch of two lane on Mississippi State Route 4 is resplendent in kudzu.
Odd figures loom over the roadway. Trees or telephone or light poles are over grown with the fast growing kudzu.
Abandoned homes are slowly being smothered by the fast growing vine.
Small copse of trees within a sea of kudzu will soon be consumed.
Spring and summer of 2013 has been unusually cool and rainy all over the US. The heavy rains have nourished the kudzu and has aided the rampant growth of this destructive weed.

Leslie, I thought I was the only one that saw the shapes and images of these vines! At dusk, all types of shapes appear. From people to animals and even monsters! lol Amazing vine!

I wonder how easy it is to control this stuff if a concerted effort was made to do so?? Probably the authorities will do something if important land was affected or certain species were being suffocated but it would then be too little too late as usual:)
It must grow at a heck of a rate.
We are experiencing exceptionally hot weather over here – temperatures have been knocking at the door of 30C plus ( way over 100 F) for days at a time then we had a thunderstorm or two which cooled things slightly and some areas suffered flooding and now the temps are soaring again. Today was a real scorcher but thank heavens we have breezes up here which help to keep us cool but it is way too hot for me and very little gardening gets done until the evening 🙂
Love and hugs
