Are you planning a family vacation this summer? Maybe get in your RV and drive somewhere? Not sure where you want to go or what to do?
Head for Arkansas and travel west on I-30.
Set your destination to Hot Springs and enjoy a day at a mineral spa. The natural hot springs have water heated to 143 degrees. You won’t want to get in that water but would enjoy a good soak in the mineral springs open to the public. Tour the infamous “Bath Houses” of long ago, do some antique shopping, or hike the many trails in the area.
Not interested in a hot soak? How about digging in the dirt to find real quality diamonds at the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. You keep all the diamonds you find. Ranging in size from a match head to over 40 carats.
Not interested in scrabbling around in the dirt? How about a visit to Hope, Arkansas to see President Bill Clinton’s boyhood home or his Presidential Library?
There are many things to do in this part of Arkansas. Boating, hiking, camping, fishing, several water theme parks, an art gallery in Hot Springs, antique shopping nearly everywhere, gambling is also available in Hot Springs. Also there are lots of wooded areas to tramp through looking for plants and flowers or bird watching.
We travel I-30 quite a lot from Little Rock to Texarkana. Signs and billboards abound proclaiming the adventures of Arkansas.
Also, we personally know of a good hospital in Arkadelphia. Hopefully you won’t need to find the Baptist Hospital but it is there if necessary 🙂
